The basics
What Puff Geeks is and who it's for.
What is Puff Geeks?
Puff Geeks builds smart vending machines and the software platform that runs them — sold together, not separately. Operators get our machine lineup (PG Arcade for trading cards and collectibles, PG Chill for refrigerated drinks and food, PG Nova for age-restricted product, and the Puff Geeks Power Station for charger rental), and every unit arrives already running the operator console, the iOS and Android apps, live sales, inventory, alerts, and restocking tools. Customers get a mobile app with a rewards program, live machine browsing, and in-app reservations with pickup codes.
Who is it for?
The machines are built for bars, nightclubs, and high-traffic venues, and for vending operators who run fleets across multiple locations. The consumer app is for anyone who buys from a Puff Geeks machine and wants rewards, reservations, and purchase history.
Can I use the software with machines I already own?
No — the platform runs on Puff Geeks machines only, and we don't license it separately for third-party hardware. That's a deliberate choice: every manufacturer's cabinet has its own dispense protocol, card reader, and firmware release schedule, and a platform that chases all of them ends up reliable on none of them. We build the cabinet, the kiosk app, the backend, and the phone apps as one system, so a dispense failure is traceable end to end and a fix ships to all of it at once. If you run a mixed fleet from other manufacturers, we're not the right answer for those units and we'd rather say so upfront.
Do I need the app to buy from a machine?
No. Walk-up purchases work with just a card — tap, chip, or swipe. The app is optional and adds rewards points, reservations, receipts, and purchase history. Guest purchases at the kiosk are not linked to any personal identity.
The machines
Hardware, pricing, and configuration.
What machines does Puff Geeks run?
Three hardware lines, each paired with a different part of the platform: PG Arcade (32-inch touchscreen, 210-item capacity) for trading cards and small collectibles; PG Chill (22-inch touchscreen, 300–600 item capacity, compressor refrigeration) for drinks and food; and PG Nova (32-inch touchscreen, 135-item capacity) — a compact wall-mount unit for age-restricted products with 21+ verification built into the purchase flow. Full specs are on the Machines page; figures are manufacturer-published for the hardware we're sourcing and confirmed per order.
Can I buy a machine?
Machine sales aren't open to the public yet — we're building out our own fleet first, and direct purchase (with the platform included) opens in the near future. What's live today is venue placement: for qualifying venues we place and service a battery station at zero upfront cost and share the rental revenue. Use the form on the Machines page to request a placement or join the sales waitlist — waitlist members hear first when a line opens.
What payment methods do machines accept?
Multiple payment options are supported across the lineup — contactless, chip, and, on PG Arcade, coin — configured per order. We'll confirm exact terminal certifications (for example Apple Pay or Google Pay support) before your machine ships. Customers can also reserve items in the app and redeem them at the machine with a single-use pickup code.
How does 21+ ID verification work?
PG Nova, our age-restricted-capable machine, gates every restricted purchase behind an ID check: it scans the barcode on a government-issued ID and verifies the buyer is 21 or older — every time, with no exceptions and no stored bypass. We store only the pass/fail result for compliance; images of the ID are never retained.
What happens if the venue Wi-Fi goes down?
Every machine in the lineup ships with 4G LTE alongside Wi-Fi, so it can keep vending and reporting sales and inventory even if venue Wi-Fi can't reach it.
Purchases & refunds
Charges, failed dispenses, and getting your money back.
What if my item doesn't dispense?
You're only charged for what actually dispenses. Payment is authorized before the machine vends and captured only for the items that come out — if a product fails to dispense you aren't charged for it, and if nothing dispenses you aren't charged at all, including the card fee. If our systems miss a failure, open a support ticket in the app and we'll make it right.
Why is there a card fee on my receipt?
Card processing costs are shown as their own line at checkout instead of being hidden in product prices, so you always see exactly what you're paying and why. It's dropped automatically if your purchase doesn't complete.
Is my card number safe?
Your card is processed entirely by the certified payment terminal on the machine. Puff Geeks never receives, stores, or has access to your full card number, PIN, or card credentials.
How do I dispute a charge?
Contact support through the app — include the machine and approximate time of purchase, and we'll review the transaction record. Refunds for failed dispenses that weren't caught automatically are handled through support tickets. Except for failed dispenses or where the law requires otherwise, completed purchases of dispensed products are final.
Puff Points, reservations & Pro
How the rewards program actually works.
How do Puff Points work?
You currently earn 25 points per unit purchased, credited automatically when you're signed in (or when you scan the receipt QR code after a guest purchase). Points are redeemed through promotions — discounts you claim in the app and apply at the kiosk with a single-use code. Every earn and redemption is recorded in a ledger you can see in your account.
What are reserve tokens and how do I get them free?
A reserve token is good for one standard reservation. You earn them free by watching optional rewarded ads (limited per day) and by hitting purchase milestones. Watching ads is always optional — it's never required to buy or to make a paid reservation.
How do reservations work?
A reservation holds a specific unit at a specific machine and gives you a pickup code to redeem there. Standard reservations hold one unit for 30, 45, or 60 minutes and are paid with points, a reserve token, or a small card fee. You can cancel any time before it expires for a full refund of whatever you paid; if you don't show up before the timer runs out, the hold releases and what you paid is the cost of the no-show.
What does the Pro subscription include?
Pro is $14.99 a month. It grants a fixed number of Pro tokens every week while active (your first grant arrives immediately), removes ads from your app experience, and includes six $1 all-day charger rentals a month. Pro tokens unlock bigger reservations — one to three units held for 60, 90, or 120 minutes — plus priority on contested stock. A covered rental costs $1 (the card fee) for up to 24 hours on rentals you start in the app; keep it longer and each extra day is charged at the standard day-pass rate. The refundable deposit and return rules are unchanged, and unused rentals do not roll over.
Does returning chargers on time get me anything?
Yes — a smaller hold. Rent in the app and return on time, and your refundable deposit shrinks: after 3 consecutive on-time returns it drops about a quarter, and after 8 it's roughly half. One late return or a lost pack resets the streak. The discount applies to rentals started in the app, where the deposit is held on your own saved card.
Can I cancel Pro whenever I want?
Yes — any time, in the app, in one step. Cancellation takes effect immediately: billing stops, future weekly grants stop, and ads return. You keep every token already granted; we never claw back credits you've earned.
What is a Pro "bump" and can my reservation be taken?
When every remaining unit of a product is already held, a new Pro reservation can displace at most one standard hold — and only one placed within the previous 15 minutes. After your first 15 minutes, your standard hold can't be bumped, and a Pro hold can never be bumped by anyone. If you are bumped, everything is automatic: a full refund of what you paid, a bonus reserve token as a make-good, a free priority hold on the next unit of that product that becomes available (for up to 24 hours), and a notification explaining exactly what happened.
Do points and tokens have cash value?
No. Points and tokens are promotional program credits — they have no cash value, can't be redeemed for cash, and can't be transferred or sold. Balances are forfeited if you delete your account. Program changes only apply going forward; credits you've already earned aren't retroactively removed.
For operators & venues
Running a fleet on the platform.
What does the platform cost for operators?
Platform fees are a monthly operator subscription, a monthly fee per employee seat beyond the included allowance, a monthly fee per claimed machine, a percentage of net sales (gross receipts minus collected sales tax and card-processing fees — never applied to tax or processor fees), and a share of advertising revenue generated on your machines. Current rates are shown live in your dashboard's billing preview, computed from your actual fleet.
How do I add a machine to my account?
Machines are claimed with a pairing code from the operator console. At claim time you choose what the machine sells — snacks and drinks, or age-restricted products — and that choice determines whether the machine appears in the customer app's browse experience. You can change it later in machine settings, as long as the stock matches.
How does employee access work?
Staff accounts live inside your team. You grant each employee access to specific machines and specific permissions, and removing a team member ends their access immediately. Every access rule is enforced server-side on every request, not just hidden in the interface.
What do the fleet tools actually do?
The platform watches sales velocity per slot to build prioritized restock lists, forecasts demand by day of week, flags machines whose sales pattern suggests a mechanical fault, and plans efficient driving routes for restocking runs. Employees can check in and out at machines to log service visits, and can optionally start a live route session so you can watch the day's progress on the fleet map — that tracking only runs during a session the employee explicitly starts, with consent.
Who owns my sales data?
You do. Your sales, pricing, revenue, product mix, and customer data remain exclusively yours, visible only within your own fleet. The platform's cross-fleet benchmarking uses only blended, de-identified operational statistics (like typical restock duration) computed across many operators, and your own fleet's real numbers always take priority over network estimates once you have history.
Can I sell age-restricted products?
Machines configured for age-restricted products require 21+ ID verification at the machine for every restricted purchase. As the operator you're responsible for licensing, product legality, and age-restriction rules in your jurisdiction — the platform enforces the verification, you make sure the placement is legal.
Privacy & account
What we collect, what we don't, and your controls.
Does the app track my location?
For customers, no. If you grant location access, it's used only on your device to sort nearby machines — it's never transmitted to or stored on our servers, and the app works without it. Employee accounts have one separately disclosed exception: live location during a route session the employee explicitly starts, which stops the moment the session ends.
What do you store when I verify my age?
Only the result — pass or fail, the method, and a timestamp, kept for legal compliance. We never retain images of your ID.
Do you sell my data or use ad trackers?
No. We don't sell personal information, don't use third-party advertising trackers, and serve ads based only on placement context — which screen, which machine — never on personal profiles.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes, self-service from your signed-in account: download a machine-readable export of your purchase history, loyalty ledger, tickets, and reservations, or permanently delete your account (password confirmation required). Personal identifiers are removed immediately; records we're legally required to keep, like tax records, are anonymized.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the reset option on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a short-lived, single-use reset link. Passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes, so no one — including us — can read your current password.
Support & contact
Getting help when something's wrong.
How do I contact support?
Signed-in users can open a support ticket right in the app or dashboard — reference the machine or transaction and the ticket routes to the right team. Anyone can email support@puffgeeks.com.
A machine is broken or ate my money — who do I tell?
Open a support ticket in the app with the machine and what happened. Machines report their own faults too, so the operator is often already alerted — but a ticket guarantees a human looks at your specific charge and refunds anything that shouldn't have been captured.
How do I report a security issue?
We welcome coordinated disclosure. Email support@puffgeeks.com with the details and we'll work with you — please don't test against production machines or other users' accounts.
How do I get a quote or book a demo?
Use the quote form on the Machines page — tell us your venue type and how many machines you're thinking about, and we'll come back within one business day with pricing, financing, and an install timeline. Every request includes a demo of the machine and software.
Still stuck?
A human reads every message.
Open a ticket in the app, email us directly, or book a demo if you’re sizing up machines for a venue.
